About Us

Founded in 1887, The Monday Club of Webster Groves is the oldest women's organization in Missouri and to quote Clarissa Start:  "It (The Monday Club) was a quiet but powerful force for good in the 1920's and before then and since then.".

In 1897 a library for the city of Webster Groves was started at the corner of Gore and Lockwood.

During World War I, the members made garments and kit bags for soldiers and formed the first chapter of the Red Cross west of the Mississippi.

The building was designated a historic site by the St. Louis County Historic Building Commission in 1978.
